Parish Story & Details

Saint Arnold Janssen Parish is a growing Catholic community located in Komarock estate, Nairobi. Established as an independent parish on December 19, 2024, it was formerly part of Divine Word Parish (Diwopa). As part of the Eastern Deanery within the Archdiocese of Nairobi, we strive to nurture faith, fellowship, and service among the people of Komarock.

Our parish is named after Saint Arnold Janssen, the founder of the Society of the Divine Word missionaries. His lifelong commitment to spreading the Gospel and serving others guides our mission today. We seek to follow his example by building a welcoming, faith-filled community dedicated to love and outreach.
At Saint Arnold Janssen Parish, our mission is to build a Christ-centered community rooted in prayer, service, and unity. We are committed to guiding the faithful in deepening their relationship with God through the Sacraments, active ministry, and spiritual formation. Inspired by the example of our patron saint, we seek to be missionaries in our own neighborhood—bringing light, compassion, and hope to all.

Our parish is more than a place of worship—it’s a family. From vibrant youth programs and choirs to prayer groups and outreach services, there’s a space for everyone to grow and serve. We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to walk with us in faith, as we continue to shape a parish that reflects the love of Christ in the heart of Komarock and beyond.

St. Arnold janssen Life Journey Story
Saint Arnold Janssen was a German priest and missionary who founded the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) in 1875, a congregation dedicated to spreading the Gospel in places where it had not yet reached. Deeply committed to prayer, education, and global mission, he also founded two congregations for women religious. Despite many challenges, his faith and vision helped send missionaries across the world, including Africa. Canonized in 2003 by Pope John Paul II, Saint Arnold’s legacy continues to inspire communities like ours to live with purpose, unity, and a heart for mission.
Impact and Outreach
Saint Arnold Janssen Parish continues to grow as a spiritual home for many in Komarock and the surrounding areas. Every Sunday, we welcome close to 2,000 faithful across all our Masses—a clear sign of a vibrant and spiritually hungry community. Our Small Christian Communities (SCCs) now bring together over 1000 families who meet regularly for prayer, reflection, and support. Their unity and commitment have been a strong pillar in the life of the parish, especially during the ongoing construction of our church. Through generous giving, fundraising, and active participation, the parishioners have shown great ownership of this mission, making the vision of a permanent worship space a shared reality.
